Watch Us On Youtube

We are constantly searching for amazing stories. Of course through the web! Some are inspiring, some change the way we see the world, and some just make us laugh. It is very important to be organized and have a standard operating procedure so you don’t get lost between the million stories out there. Every PicBuster has 3 stages before publishing:

  • Research: Identify relevant data, contributors, locations or archive material, collating and assessing information from various sources.

  • Production: The development of scripts by writing drafts, check final written materials for accuracy, prepare production materials and produce the video.
  • Publishing: Hundreds of stories are ready! The priority of sharing a specific story is up to our audience. They decide – We deliver!

Milk Drop Coronet: Dr. Harold Edgerton, the father of Photo & High-Speed Photography | PicBusters

A milk drop coronet? Our PicBuster is about microseconds. We see details that are normally invisible to us. The high-speed video & photography makes it possible. A technique that had to be invented first. It all began in the 1930s in the USA. The electrical engineer Harold Edgerton conducts a research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He invented a special flash that lights up several times within a second. By this new exposure method, 6000 images per second are visible instead of the usual 250 back then. Suddenly, we see things that the human eye could not perceive before. Until Edgerton is satisfied with his recordings, he often needs countless attempts and sometimes even years. His pictures are so astonishing. Like his most famous photo. Edgerton wants to photograph a milk drop and capture the moment when it hits the surface and forms a crown. In 1957 Harold Edgerton captured the perfect round milk crown. He worked six or seven years perfecting that splash of the milk drop picture. And he wrote history. He amazed the world shooting a splash of a drop of milk on a red surface. He is considered the father of modern and high-speed photography. Milk drop coronet became one of the most iconic photos of the 20th century. Our PicBuster.

Giraffe Manor: Hotel in Nairobi – Kenya allows visitors to have breakfast with Giraffes | PicBusters

The Giraffe Manor is a true animal hotel where the majestic giraffes come closer than anywhere else. It is hard to believe but the giraffes actually belong to the hotel; a truly unique concept. Giraffe Manor is located just outside the city of Nairobi in the Lang’ata suburb and became a hotel in 1984.

Shortly after buying the hotel, the animal rights activist Betty Leslie-Melville and her husband heard that the red-headed giraffe was threatened with extinction, so they went about setting up a rescue centre on the land.

The peaceful animals don’t only visit the breakfast room; thanks to their huge body size the giraffes also knock on the upper floors for a small snack and with their tongues measuring up to 50 centimetres they even make it to the roof!

Crocodile vs Elephant: Crocodile Attacks Elephant Baby | PicBusters

On the 5th of October 2015 the animal photographer Francois Borman was as always looking for the perfect photo; he did not know yet what he would capture on this day. Borman’s first motif is a small elephant, who, together with his family, was refreshing himself at a small water hole; a typical day in the life of an elephant, nothing unusual. The elephant baby was still too young to know how to use his trunk however, so he fell completely into the water and tried instead to drink with his mouth. Suddenly a 4 metre long crocodile shot out of the water and snapped at the little elephant’s trunk. Borman captured this unique moment with his camera as the crocodile bit into the trunk of the baby elephant. The elephant baby managed a shouting cry and the elephant cows came running from all sides; the mother put her trunk around the baby so it could get hold under the feet and better fight against the crocodile. In the end the fighting spirit of the baby elephant was bigger and its trunk stronger than the teeth of the crocodile; with a courageous jerk, he eventually succeeded in freeing himself from the jaws of the crocodile.

Starling Murmuration: Over 4.000.000 birds in Rome create a beautiful phenomenon | PicBusters
Within seconds, the sky of Rome turns black. A huge dark cloud passes over the city.
But what kind of spookiness is that on our PicBuster?
They are starlings, countless starlings, which create a fascinating air show! An absolute miracle of our nature. And this natural wonder can be observed every year between October and February in Italy’s capital. During this period, Rome accommodates around 4 million new guests.
Rome is the winter quarter of starlings, the place is perfect for these creatures; during the day the birds eat at the olive groves, toward the evening hours they fall back over the warmer parts of the city and look for a suitable place to sleep. During the search they form themselves into huge swarms, but these strange formations have a reason. The peregrine falcon searches for food and chases the starlings. But due to the hectic movements the falcon gets irritated and put off his task, he cannot concentrate on a single bird.
The phenomenon is somewhat sweet for tourists, because after all they will soon leave to travel back home; the Romans themselves though find their world-famous nature play a tad less fragrant.
When the birds have finally found a sleeping place, they produce about 3 tons of bodily waste each night! No one is safe from the unpleasant excrement; and who wants to expose his or her car to a centimeter thick fecal layer?
The resident need to be ingenious; the so-called Birdbusters want to free the Romans from this bird plague. With megaphones which send the warning call of the starlings, they manage to scare their visitors, then the flight artists form their beautiful air show once again in search of a new sleeping place. And if the Romans are lucky, it’s one outside of their city!

Peacock Spider: The male spiders work hard to win the ladies PicBusters

An attractive male, one that can dance and has an extreme level of endurance during sex; where is such a male?! Well we have discovered him in Australia; our PicBuster shows the splendid specimen. Just five millimeters tall, he impresses with unique flap-like extensions of the abdomen; we are of course talking about the Peacock Spider. With his bold colours the male tries to impress his chosen one and there she is. Each male possessed an unusual pattern that he proudly presents when the time is appropriate. At the same time he performs a sensational courtship dance, yes, you heard correctly, these spiders have not only a cute, colorful coat, but also neat rhythm in their blood. The seduction takes up to an hour, during which the male risks his life, because with his eye-catching colour, the creature is easy prey for his predators. His beloved also poses a risk; if the female does not appreciate the advance she attacks spontaneously. That’s why the male slowly approaches his chosen one… step by step. If the female is impressed by the dance, the desired moment arrives and can last more than two hours. The colourful genes are also passed on to the offspring and so the male Peacock Spider becomes ever more magnificent through the course of evolution. Maratus volans is the species within the jumping spider family, belonging to the genus Maratus the Peacock Spiders – our PicBuster.
